FIRST NAHB CERTIFIED GREEN SUBDIVISION (LAND DEVELOPMENT) IN NC

Gil Vaughan, REALTOR^®/EcoBroker^® and NAHB Certified Green Professional (CGP) with Yost & Little Realty, announced today that the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center has certified Silverstein Construction Corporation’s Sanford’s Creek community in Colfax, NC (Piedmont Triad area) as the first Certified “Green” Subdivision (Land Development) in North Carolina, and only the 4^th in the entire nation. The other Certified Green Subdivision’s are in Burns Harbor, IN, Little Rock, AR, and Traverse City, MI.

Designed and developed exclusively by builder Gary Silverstein (Energy Star Builder and NAHB Certified Green Professional), Sanford’s Creek conforms to the rigorous standards outlined in the NAHB’s National “Green” Building Standards (ICC 700-2008). The primary criteria for the “Green” certification is responsible and efficient site design and development without any significant impact to natural resources (including environmentally sensitive areas, native vegetation, wildlife habitat, topography, water usage and storm water management).
